COM students are more likely to vote than students at other 2-year colleges in the U.S. According to the Institute for Democracy & Higher Education’s National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement, the percentage of COM students registering to vote has increased. In 2012, 66% were registered to vote compared to 74% in 2016. Also, they are increasingly likely to vote. Of those registered to vote, 78% voted in 2012. 84% voted in 2016. Based on comparisons in the NSLVE study, COM students' voting rate was 5% higher in 2012 and 12% higher in 2016 than other 2 year colleges across the nation (including both public and private).
